The Dutch Everest Expedition 2016 is proud to be an Ambassador of the “UIAA Respect the Mountains” project.
The UIAA Respect the Mountains Series, supported by KEEN, comprises a number of events aimed at encouraging the protection and preservation of a sustainable mountain environment for future generations. Respecting the needs of mountain communities is a core component of the project in parallel with research, innovation and educating people about mountain protection.
Its goals are to: 
- Raise awareness for sustainable environmental practices and spread the word within the outdoor community
- Preserve mountain ecosystems and cultures in their natural state for future generations
- Promote sustainable mountain tourism and activities
- Educate the next generation of mountain explorers and encourage them to be sustainable followers
The UIAA Respect the Mountains project encourages all its national member federations and mountain stakeholders to adopt the 7 Ways to Respect the Mountains practices by following these simple yet effective actions and to build a sustainable future.
